Autonomic
The 15th of February see’s the release of FABRICLIVE 50: dBridge & Instra:mental present Autonomic. I managed to get a chance to hear the mix on promo and boy it’s VERY SERIOUS.
In my opinion dBridge & Instra:mental along with their labels Exit and NonPlus+ are pushing things forward in every sense, not just in drum & bass but electronic music as a whole. Their work may not be to everyones taste and certainly is not always built for the tear out dance floor heads, but thats just it, why should it be? They are creating some amazing music and that’s all I care about. I believe the scene needed some new life and this is exactly what these guys are bringing to the table.
The mix is inspiring. It takes you on a journey through all the tunnels of this new sound that has been evolving over the past year or two and to be honest I’m pretty addicted to it. I find it exciting and exhilarating to hear what these guys are creating and I can’t wait to see where this sound goes in 2010. I think with Instra:mental’s work in particular, the idea of looking at the past to move forward is very applicable, Jean-Michel Jarre anyone?
There are too many gems in the mix to go through them all but I thought I would hit you with two contrasting yet equally sick tracks to wet your appetite.
First is the opening track by vocalist Riya, entitled ‘Seems Like’ which is forthcoming on Exit Records. It’s all about the vocals on this one, JEEEEZ. Hold tight for more from her very soon!
The second is definitely another one of my favourites. ‘Down With You’ by Pearson Sound aka Ramadanman is for me good enough to eat. Plain and simple.
Here’s to the future!
NOTE – This is 100% TFC recommended, you need this in your life.
